Donovan

I've had a love for Donovan for a year or so now but these past couple of weeks it's exploded, he is just so wonderfully brilliant. He's Britain’s answer to Bob Dylan, he's a better guitarist than Dylan though so we're one up on the front. He has this wonderfully soothing voice that will carry you through the song and take you on a journey that is hard to forget, I'm talking all about before he went off into his later stuff with his songs about crows and jesters - before all the began he had an amazing catalogue of tunes.

His songs are genuinely beautiful little gems and you're very lucky if you ever come across Donovan in your life, listen to songs like 'Catch the wind', 'Ballad of Geraldine' and 'Josie'. My favourite thing about any Donovan song is the music, it's usually a simple acoustic guitar (which is be an obvious choice of instrumentation in folk music) but the way he plays is just beautiful, it really is. He's the king of his acoustic guitar, his finger picking skills are stupidly brilliant and as a musician he is very, very underrated.
