I've been a bit of a radio/podcast junkie these past few weeks, listening to radio interviews, enjoying the cheesy jingles and most importantly; listening to the music. I've been a fan of Subcultured for a few weeks now, after stumbling across it on Twitter; it's all their for the music, and what a great selection of music does our presenter Natalie (better known as Je Suis Natalie) pick out for all of us hardcore music fans. With music ranging from Mod to Folk to Garage, it's hard to think of an audience that won't enjoy listening to this brilliant online radio show.
It's all about the tunes, this show, and that's why I love it - Natalie doesn't talk over songs, she doesn't tell cheesy jokes - nope, it's just a simple introduction to the track and away she lets it go to have it's moment in the sun. It's fantastic. When I asked Natalie about Subcultured this is what she had to say;
'After spending three years dancing at Brighton Beach to amazing DJs, including Andy Crofts of The Moons I decided it was my turn. I record around the house, wherever I can get some peace and quiet really. I have to make sure I have a cup of coffee to hand though. The equipment I use is Garageband for Mac and a set of iPod headphones. It's the question that I get asked the most but it's the most simplest thing. Nothing more to say really other than I'm looking to put on a Subcultured 'Summer Sundae' in Manchester this summer and I'm after a decent venue with dance floor that can fit everyone on for Northern Soul dancing. I have my DJs and bands lined up to play so it's something to look out for. '
Everyone, get listening to Subcultured!
